Kristina Paltén, Alone Through Iran, 1144 Miles of Trust – The Negative Influence of Media
Kristina Paltén – ultra-runner, two-time world-record holder, and adventurer – talks about courage, fear, and the negative influence of media.
We are currently living in an amazing time with more possibilities than ever before. All thanks to one single thing which has opened up a limitless range of almost unimaginable opportunities for each and every one of us.
However, not everybody seems to be aware of it.
The “thing” that I am talking about has become such a part of our daily lives that we do not see the power of it anymore. I guess you know what it is I’m talking about right? I mean, it’s right there in the title. Anyway…
The internet is more than a door for entertainment and knowledge.
It is also a door that can lead you towards your dreams.
When I wrote the title “Your Gateway to Become Anything You Want”, I wasn’t exaggerating.
The internet is a gateway to endless possibilities and you are free to seek them out and grasp them.

Let’s say you want to be a taxi driver: there is Uber.
Let’s say you want to open up a bed & breakfast place: there is Airbnb.
Let’s say you want to be a language teacher: there is Italki.
Let’s say you want to be an actor: there is YouTube.
Let’s say you want to be a musician: there is CD Baby.
Let’s say you want to be a writer: there is Amazon where you can publish your own books.
Let’s say you want to be a freelancer in all manner of different fields: there is UpWork.
Let’s say you want to open up your own restaurant: there is EatWith.
Let’s say you want to be…
I guess you get the point by now. I could go on and fill this article with a hundred more opportunities and there are a thousands more that I am not even aware of myself and a million more coming out each day.
Whatever you want to be, there is an opportunity for you to make it a reality using the internet. Become aware of those opportunities.
My point is, that I make a living doing this, and created myself a life because of the internet. For many people this is mind blowing when I tell them, though there are many people out there in the world who do exactly the same.
It’s just that far more people aren’t yet aware of the possibilities available to them and are still stuck living by the old fashioned belief that the only way to earn a living is to work for a company in a “normal” job in the town or the city they live in.
That’s why I am laying this out here. You have more options then you might realize.
The real problem we are facing is not a lack of opportunities, but a lack of awareness of those opportunities – a lack of understanding what a resource the internet can be.
However, though the internet gives countless possibilities and opportunities, they don’t just come without you having to do something.
The reason I am pointing this out is because the internet is a noisy, busy and crowded place, just like the world. Creating your dreams with it also requires hard work and determination.
While this might sound obvious to some, it doesn’t for a lot of others. Many people have called me lucky for doing what I am doing, but precisely zero amount of luck was involved.

Addiction is complex, deeply human, and often misunderstood.
In this episode, we take a grounded and practical look at what addiction really is and how it can be treated effectively.
I’m joined by Kevin Cornelius, a licensed marriage and family therapist and clinical director at the Feeling Good Institute Silicon Valley.
Kevin specializes in TEAM-CBT, a powerful and evolving therapeutic approach developed by psychiatrist David Burns.
What I am hoping you get out of this episode, besides learning some of the reasons why people stay addicted, is that you will learn some practical techniques to start taking a small step toward freeing yourself from whichever addiction you might be struggling with.
If, after this episode, you’d like to learn more about the effects addiction has on the brain, do have a listen to the episode I did with Dr. Grisel, titled The Brain on Addiction.
